Summer Open Day

The Anderton Centre is delighted to announce its first Summer Open Day, taking place on Saturday 22nd August 2026. Whether you joined us for our Spring Open Day or this is your first visit, this ticketed event offers a fantastic opportunity to experience a wide range of exciting land and water-based outdoor activities in a fun and welcoming environment. Please note that everyone attending the site is required to purchase an entrance ticket, even if they do not intend to take part in any activities.

Each session offers 2.5 hours of adventure and shared experiences with family, friends, or colleagues for just £12 per person, with all proceeds supporting our charity, the Lancashire Outdoor Activity Initiative (LOAI). To attend, simply pre-book your chosen time slot and bring proof of purchase with you on the day. Some activities are extremely popular, so short queues may be required, and certain activities may have age restrictions. Each pre-booked session is limited to 200 activity places to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

There are three sessions available on the day, with a morning session running from 09:30 to 12:00, an afternoon session from 13:30 to 16:00, and an evening session 16:30-19:00. Guests are kindly asked to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before their allocated session time.

Visitors can expect a wide range of land-based taster activities led by our experienced instructors, including archery, axe throwing, high-all-aboard, leap of faith, climbing wall activities, forest craft, self-led orienteering, crafted creations, and bushcraft huts with open fires. Water-based taster activities may include laser stratos, laser fun boats, our traditional Devon Longboat Drascombe, Hansa sailboats or a Wheelyboat available on request, stand-up paddleboarding, single and double sit-on kayaks, rafted open canoes, and XL stand-up paddleboarding. All activities are subject to availability.

The event takes place at the Anderton Centre, New Road, Anderton, Chorley, PR6 9HG. Please note that access to the site is via Old Road or Roscoe Lower Brow and not via Horrobin Lane. Limited free parking is available on site, and visitors are encouraged to car share where possible. All vehicles must be removed from the site within 15 minutes of the end of your pre-booked session. Disabled parking is extremely limited and available by request only.

All participants taking part in water-based activities will be issued with a buoyancy aid or life jacket, which must be worn at all times. Helmets may be provided and are compulsory for those under the age of 16. Covered footwear must be worn for all water activities. We strongly recommend wearing sturdy footwear and dressing appropriately for the prevailing weather conditions, as changing facilities on site are limited.

Throughout your visit, our catering team will be available with opportunities to purchase hot food, snacks, and refreshments. Smoking and vaping are restricted to designated areas, and the consumption of alcohol is strictly prohibited on site.

The minimum age for participation in both land-based and water-based activities is six years old, and proof of age may be required. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while taking part in activities, and all under 18s must be supervised by an adult on site at all times. All activities are subject to availability, and no refunds will be issued if a participant is unable to take part in a specific activity due to availability constraints.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site provided they are kept on leads and accompanied by responsible owners, although access may be restricted in certain areas. The Anderton Centre reserves the right to refuse participation in any activity at any time, including where concerns arise relating to safety, participant behaviour, or the suitability of personal protective equipment.

Participants must acknowledge that outdoor adventurous activities involve inherent risks, including injury or exposure to challenging conditions. While the Anderton Centre works hard to manage risk effectively, these risks cannot be completely eliminated. By attending the Open Day, participants confirm they understand and accept these risks and choose to take part voluntarily. Photographs and videos may be taken by Anderton Centre staff during the event for marketing purposes, including use on social media and other publications, with client anonymity always respected.

By attending the Anderton Centre Summer Open Day, participants agree to comply with these terms and conditions. Failure to do so may result in refusal of entry or participation without a refund. The Anderton Centre reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.

With only 200 places available per session, early booking is strongly recommended. Secure your place now and enjoy a memorable summer day filled with outdoor adventure.
