Core Coach Training £240
The Core Coach Training is open to all paddlers, regardless of discipline or previous coaching experience, making it an ideal starting point for anyone interested in developing their coaching skills. Whether you are completely new to coaching or looking to strengthen your existing knowledge, this course provides a supportive and engaging learning environment.
During the course, you will explore a range of approaches to understanding how people learn and how best to support that learning on the water. You will be guided in developing your own personal coaching development plan, helping you take what you learn during the course and confidently apply it in practice afterwards.
The training is available in two flexible formats. You can choose to attend a two-day practical course or complete the training through an online modular programme, allowing you to select the learning style that best suits your lifestyle and commitments.
For already qualified coaches, the Core Coach Training can count towards your continuous professional development and carries a value of 20 CPD points.
Throughout the training, you will gain a deeper understanding of the learning journey of the paddlers you coach, how to support learners with different needs, and how to structure sessions so that participants get the most from their time on the water. Alongside the main sessions, you will also explore your role as a coach and learn how reflective practice and a personal development plan can help you maximise your ongoing growth and effectiveness.
If you are interested in progressing towards one of the 22 discipline-specific Coach Award qualifications, your tutors will support you in planning your next steps and identifying the most appropriate pathway for you.
Core Coach Training courses can be delivered through a virtual classroom or as a blended option combining classroom learning with time on the water. This flexibility allows you to choose the format that works best for you and helps you begin your coaching journey with confidence.
To get the most out of the course, you should feel comfortable in or on your chosen craft and be able to paddle independently on sheltered water. Before booking, we recommend holding the Paddle Explore Award or having an equivalent level of experience.
The course also includes a hot breakfast and hot lunch on both days, along with tea, coffee and biscuits in the afternoon, ensuring you are well fuelled throughout your learning experience.
