Outdoor Instructor Scheme 2025/26

Duration: 16 weeks
Dates: Starting week commencing 10th November 2025, finishing week commencing 16th February 2026
(Please note: there will be no sessions w.c. 22nd and 29th December 2025 for the festive break).

Our Outdoor Instructor Scheme is a 16-week intensive training programme designed to give you the qualifications, skills, and experience needed to launch a career in the outdoor industry. Accommodation and catering is included here at The Centre. Limited to just 6 participants, the scheme offers expert instruction, professional mentoring, and unique opportunities to train in some of the UK’s most inspiring adventure locations.

What You’ll Achieve

By the end of the scheme, you will gain the following nationally recognised qualifications:

  • Rock Skills.
  • Hill Skills.
  • Powerboat Level 2.
  • RYA Sailing Level 1 & Level 2.
  • PSRC (Paddle Safety and Rescue Course).
  • PSI (Paddle Sport Instructor).
  • 16-Hour Outdoor First Aid.
  • Archery GB Instructor Award.

Additional CPD & Experiences

To support your development as an instructor, the programme also includes:

  • Walking, climbing, paddling, and sailing days
  • Multi-day expeditions in North Wales, Scotland, and the Lake District
  • Lectures, keynote speakers, and industry guest sessions

Online Training Modules

As part of your professional preparation, you will also complete the following online courses:

  • COSHH.
  • Safeguarding.
  • GDPR.
  • Level 2 Food Hygiene.
  • Manual Handling.

Progression Opportunities

On successful completion of the programme, participants may have the opportunity to be offered a seasonal instructor contract at the Anderton Centre, putting your new skills directly into practice in a professional setting.

  • Course Fee: £10,000 + VAT per person
