If you would like the confidence to stay safe on the water and the skills to deal with situations when things do not go to plan, the Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course is a great choice. This practical, hands-on course focuses on simple, effective solutions to common paddling issues in sheltered water environments.
The course is designed to give you peace of mind when paddling with friends or as part of a club. It covers safe techniques and straightforward strategies that can be applied when using canoes, kayaks or stand-up paddleboards, helping you feel more confident and prepared on the water.
The Paddlesport Safety and Rescue course is suitable for all ages and experience levels and is open to anyone who wants to build their confidence. There is no assessment, as the focus is entirely on developing practical skills in a supportive and relaxed setting. You will have plenty of time to practise key techniques with guidance from experienced tutors.
The course runs for approximately six hours and covers essential topics such as choosing appropriate clothing and equipment, understanding safety frameworks, carrying out contact and towing rescues, performing self-rescues and deep-water rescues, and reflecting on your learning to support future development.
As well as building confidence and rescue skills, the course is a great opportunity to meet other paddlers and share experiences. Accommodation can be requested and is subject to availability.
