The RYA Level 1: Start Sailing course assumes that the student has not sailed before and is normally conducted in Laser Pico single handed dinghies. After you have learnt to rig the boat and received an introduction to the boat's controls, the group will take to the water to experience for the first time what it's like to helm a sailing dinghy alone, under the close supervision of the RYA instructor.

By the end of the course you should have a basic understanding of boat handling techniques and background knowledge, and you will be awarded the RYA Level 1 certificate on successfully completing.  It is recommended that all participants consolidate their skills by following up this course with an RYA Level 2 Basic Skills course.

Cost: £150

Course duration: 2 days (usually Saturday and Sunday)

Timings: 8.30am - 4.30pm
