RYA Powerboat Level 2

Powerboat Level 2 £264

Powerboat Level 2 £264

Learn the basics of powerboat driving on our RYA Powerboat Level 2 course.

By the end of the two-day course you should be capable of handling small powerboats safely. The course is 100% training with any assessment built in, which gives plenty of time for practising manoeuvres and correcting faults.

You will learn how to launch and recover from a road trailer, high and low speed manoeuvres and seamanship skills such as man-overboard recovery, picking up a mooring and anchoring. Shore-based sessions will include instruction in engine maintenance, practical use of charts and compasses, tidal and weather interpretation and advice for going on a day trip.

During the course you will be using a range of boats from tiller controlled Rigiflex dinghies, to larger 5 metre RIBs.

The water venue is ideal for developing powerboat skills and with a variety of moorings there is plenty of opportunities to work on your close quarter boat handling skills. Each day your instructor will discuss the aims of the day and develop a plan to make the most of the weather conditions.

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to develop the skills to operate in a safe and responsible manner.

The RYA National Powerboat level two certificate, is also a pre-requisite for the RYA Dinghy Instructor and RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor qualifications.

The certificate can also be used as proof of competence when applying for the International Certificate of Competence. (ICC).
